Digital Bros, which owns 505 Games, plans to cut 30% of jobs: the company also wants to focus on sequels rather than new IPs
The parent company of 505 Games, Digital Bros, has announced that it is planning an "organisational review". It is expected to reduce staff in development studios and publishing divisions by about 30%.
Here's What We Know
Digital Bros Group has reviewed its projects to make them relevant to the new competitive environment. The company said that after the pandemic, the video game market has become more demanding of new games, and players are increasingly returning to well-known franchises. Therefore, Digital Bros will now focus on sequels. In general, fewer projects will be developed, but they will have a larger budget.
According to the latest data from Digital Bros, the company employs 442 people, so the company will lay off about 130 employees.
The management of Digital Bros also believes that this will not affect the income statement for the 2023-2024 financial year, and the restructuring costs will not have a significant impact on the annual projected results, thanks to the cost savings generated by the reduction in salary costs.
In addition to 505 Games, which is the publisher of Ghostrunner, Control, Abzu, and dozens of other games, Italian Digital Bros also owns Kunos Simulazioni, DR Studios, and others.
