Starfield, shoddy ports and a fake game: PC Gamer has compiled a list of the top disappointments of 2023
PC Gamer portal will soon present its own TOP of the best games of 2023, but before that the editorial staff has compiled a selection of the biggest disappointments that befell the PC-gaming community in the past year.
Here's What We Know
1. Starfield
Bethesda's new game was one of the most anticipated, discussed and ambitious games for several years, but what it turned out to be - disappointed gamers with its boredom, monotony and lack of fundamentally new ideas.
2. Redfall
A game that became a disgrace to Arkane Studios and Bethesda.
3. RTX 4060 and RTX 4060 Ti graphics cards
The new graphics accelerators received too little video memory: 8 GB is extremely small for modern games, but NVIDIA persistently does not admit the slip-up.
4. The Day Before
A Fake Game. Russian developers showed promising trailers for several years and were not shy to compare the game with the best projects, but in reality everything turned out to be a brazen deception of gamers.
5. ROG Ally
The portable console from Asus appeared on sale with a serious design problem in the form of a breakable SD-card slot.
6. Destiny 2: Lightfall
The developers promised to add a lot of new and quality content to the game, but the Lightfall add-on did not live up to gamers' expectations. The attempt to increase the difficulty of the shooter did not bring any positive results either.
7. Low-quality PC-versions of games
2023 upset the players with disgusting PC-versions of several games at once. The release of The Last of Us: Part I on PC was a real disaster and actually ruined the impeccable reputation of Naughty Dog studio. And the technical execution of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection remasters was far from ideal, too
8. Lack of surprises in PC hardware
No fundamentally new PC technologies and components were introduced this year. The only surprise of the year was the Asus ROG Ally handheld console, but even that was on this list of disappointments.
9. Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
The Shadow of the Erdtree add-on for the best game of 2022 Elden Ring was announced in early 2023, but so far the developers from FromSoftware haven't announced a release date for the DLC, and even at The Game Awards 2023 it didn't find a place.
