Insider: a remaster of the original God of War trilogy may be in development
The soft reboot of the God of War franchise, which took place in 2018, turned out to be extremely successful. The game attracted millions of gamers, received the highest marks from critics and, most importantly, showed the brutal Spartan Kratos from a completely different side.
The sequel with the subtitle Ragnarök only increased the fan base of the action series. Undoubtedly, the next game in the series is in development, but it will be a few more years before its release. However, the developers may have another surprise in store for the fans.
Here's What We Know
On the air of XboxEra podcast, well-known insider Nick Baker shared information from his sources who claim that Sony is preparing a remaster of the original God of War trilogy.
Nick Baker has no information yet on whether this will be a simple re-release for modern platforms or if we're talking about a more comprehensive enhancement of the iconic games, close to a remake.
His interlocutor Jeff Grubb has confirmed this information and believes that the scope of improvements in the God of War remasters will be comparable to the Metroid Prime re-release for Switch.
Insiders speculate that the release of the remasters could take place in 2024 or 2025.
Note that this would be a great move on the developers' part, as the last two instalments have attracted a huge number of new players to the franchise, who will be interested to learn about Kratos' younger years and what events forced him to leave his native Greece and find himself in the territory of the Scandinavian gods.
