A representative of the publisher 2K Games commented on the reason for the withdrawal of Spec Ops: The Line from sale
Yesterday we reported that the famous military shooter Spec Ops: The Line was removed from sale in Steam.
Today the representatives of the publisher 2K Games commented on this decision.
Here's What We Know
Employee of 2K at the request of the portal PCgamer gave an explanation of the situation.
According to him, Spec Ops: The Line will no longer be sold in digital shops, because the licensing terms for some materials have expired.
He didn't explain what exactly the licence had expired for, but we can assume that the matter concerns the soundtrack, as it featured compositions by Jimi Hendrix, Deep Purple, Martha and the Vandellas and Björk.
There have been similar cases in the gaming industry and developers have often managed to negotiate with copyright holders to continue the licence, and in some cases the songs have been removed from the games and returned to the market, as was the case with GTA IV.
Perhaps, in time Spec Ops: The Line will be back on sale, those who purchased the game will still have access to it.
