In his new book Play Nice: The Rise, Fall, and Future of Blizzard Entertainment, Jason Schreier analyses the more than thirty-year history of one of the most famous and important game studios, which created such franchises as Warcraft (World of Warcraft), Diablo, StarCraft, Heroes of the Storm, Hearthstone and Overwatch.
Jason Schreier interviewed more than 350 former and current Blizzard employees and detailed how the American company rose to the top of the gaming business and then became mired in scandals, lawsuits, reputational losses and projects of dubious quality. Schreier paid a lot of attention to the merger with Activision (2008) and then Microsoft (2023).
Play Nice: The Rise, Fall, and Future of Blizzard Entertainment will be released in 2024 in paper and digital editions. The exact sales date depends on the region; in the US, the book will go on sale on 8 October.
