Due to the global economic crisis, many game companies are forced to reduce their staff, but some manage to expand even in such difficult times

So, from the quarterly report of the Japanese holding Kadokawa Corporation, which owns, among others, the famous FromSoftware studio, it became known that another game company has recently joined it.

Here's What We Know

Kadokawa Corporation acquired Acquire studio, which has been working on the game market since 1994.

The most famous projects of the studio are two parts of JRPG Octopath Traveler, the second of which was released in 2023. The game has not gained wide popularity, but some experts note Octopath Traveler 2 as one of the best projects of recent years. Thus, the famous journalist Jason Schreier, who a few days ago announced his third book and got into a scandal, repeatedly praised the game and considers it a real work of art.

The Kadokawa Corporation report said:

To expand our ability to create game IP as part of our business strategy, we became the sole owners of Acquire Corp. By obtaining a company that has developed hits with million-dollar sales, we expect to establish mutually beneficial cooperation between it and other game divisions, expand our group-wide development and planning capabilities, and add to our catalogue of console games.
