Game designer Hideo Kojima likes to talk about his projects and is eager to intrigue the public, but for some reason he hasn't released a HideoTube video for seven years.

The Japanese developer decided to revive this format and today on the YouTube channel Kojima Productions released the first video after a multi-year break.

Here's What We Know

In the 50-minute video, Kojima and his colleagues focused on two projects: Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and the innovative horror game OD, which was announced for December 2023.

Hideo Kojima revealed that the plot of Death Stranding 2 picks up shortly after the finale of the original game. The protagonist will be constantly accompanied on his journey by the same puppet that caused a lot of discussion after the trailer was shown at State of Play. The puppet will constantly comment on the player's actions and will apparently take an important place in the narrative.

The game designer noted that in Death Stranding 2, which will be released in 2025, there will be more natural disasters. In addition to floods, there will be forest fires and earthquakes, and their impact on the surrounding world will increase significantly. The fact that the development of the game is nearing completion is evident from the fact that the Japanese version of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will start voice acting in the spring of 2024. In the video, Kojima reminded that the first part took a year and a half to complete.

About the mysterious OD Hideo Kojima told less. The developer is worried about the public reaction to such an experimental project and he is not sure that gamers will understand and appreciate it. The main role in OD will be played by actress Sophia Lillis, but the game will involve other famous actors, whose names Kojima is not ready to announce.

As for the new ambitious action game Physint, which was announced a fortnight ago at State of Play, the Japanese developer only reminded that this project will combine the formats of the game and film, and its concept was invented in response to the fans' requests for a continuation of the Metal Gear Solid franchise, to which Kojima no longer has anything to do.
