Creative Assembly studio published an article in which Total War: Warhammer III director Richard Aldridge revealed how the developers plan to improve the failed Shadows of Change add-on.

Here's What We Know

Recall, Shadows of Change for Total War: Warhammer III, which was released in August 2023, was sharply criticised by gamers because of the small amount of content at an exorbitant price. Aldridge admitted that the studio let down the expectations of fans, but assured that the team is doing everything possible to rectify the situation.

Thus, a major patch 4.2 will be released soon for Shadows of Change, which will make up for the lack of content and fix the developers' unfortunate innovations.

Update 4.2 will be available for free to everyone who previously bought the DLC, and new buyers will get it automatically when installing the add-on.

The game director also mentioned the next Thrones of Decay add-on. In it, as in Shadows of Change, players will receive the following content:

  • three legendary lords with unique gameplay mechanics for the Realms of Chaos and Immortal Empires campaigns;
  • three legendary heroes, three heroes and three lords - one per race;
  • five new units (infantry, cavalry, monsters, etc.) per race;
  • three glorious regiments per race;
  • one free character (Aekold Helbrass for Shadows of Change and Legendary Lord for Thrones of Decay).

Total War: Warhammer III plans to introduce even more new content in the future, including spells, maunts, and free heroes.

More information about further development plans for Total War: Warhammer III can be found on the developers' blog.
