High scores with mixed reviews: critics warmly welcomed the action game Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden
Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden - dramatic mystical action game from Remember Me, Vampyr and Life Is Strange developers from Don't Nod studio - was released.
In all the trailers the game looked unusual, atmospheric and attractive and judging by the critics' evaluations, the promo materials didn't deceive.
Here's What We Know
World gaming media, including ours, got an opportunity to play Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden in advance and publish their reviews.
Surprising situation: almost all reviews have critical remarks about almost all aspects of the game, but Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden received quite high marks:
- on Opencritic - 82 points with 84% of recommendations;
- on Metacritic - from 78 to 81 points depending on the platform.
In general, critics say that Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden has excellent production, good dialogues, quality technical execution, atmospheric locations and a great soundtrack.
At the same time, journalists say that Banishers has a long and not the most interesting plot, which would be good to reduce by 10 hours (from 25).
The combat system was criticised to some extent: it's not bad, but it doesn't reach the level of quality action games.
Many journalists noted that the main theme of the game - "love in spite of death" - is not revealed to the proper extent, which is surprising, because Don't Nod has always been good at touching stories.
Gagadget's editorial also got to know Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden and presented his detailed review.
Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is already available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
