The network shooter Rainbow Six Siege is arguably Ubisoft Publishing's most successful game service. It turns nine years old in 2024 and has been very popular all this time.

Obviously, this is due to the constant updates that add new characters, weapons, maps, events and much more to the shooter. But many gamers are wondering if it's time to release a sequel to Rainbow Six Siege, to which Siege creative director Alexander Karpazis gave a clear answer: no, it's not time.

Here's What We Know

In an interview with PC Gamer, Alexander Karpazis explained that Rainbow Six Siege's engine and concept allow the development team to provide almost endless support for the game:

I can confidently say that we have probably one of the best engines in the world among PvP shooters.

We have a great team with a huge division for the engine - every month it systematically improves the ways in which we can release content faster, richer, more stable and bigger.

The idea of changing the engine to some other off-the-shelf solution simply doesn't fit the needs of a highly competitive and demanding game like Siege. I won't name names, but you've seen games that have released a sequel and completely failed because they had to redo absolutely everything that was already done in the first game.

It can be a very annoying process, very expensive, and in the end no benefit at all. We see success where you know what you have and can build further on that foundation. Because of this, we know we can lead Siege further into the future.

We're confident that this game can live forever with the people, talent, and tools we have today.
