Indie game Revenant Hill in the style of Night in the Woods cancelled: part of the team cannot continue development due to serious health problems
The Glory Society has announced that the development of their game Revenant Hill, which is stylistically very similar to the popular indie Night in the Woods, has been cancelled. The decision was made after some developers were forced to withdraw from the project due to serious health issues.
Here's What We Know
Two key team members have stepped away from development for an indefinite period of time, as The Glory Society's team is small and everyone was performing several tasks at once. So now it is almost impossible to continue the development of Revenant Hill. The studio's statement also said that "by all indications, this is the end of Revenant Hill's development".
The health of the team is more important to The Glory Society than the games, so the authors asked everyone to take care of each other and support the employees working on the games.
In addition, artist and animator Scott Benson, who worked on Revenant Hill and Night in the Woods, wrote that he had been very ill for the past 12 months. Later, Scott was diagnosed with serious heart failure, so now he cannot work as he used to.
Flashback
Revenant Hill was first announced in May 2023 at the PlayStation ShowCase. The story was supposed to take place in 1919, where we, in the role of Twigs, have to make ends meet. The game was to be released on PlayStation 4/5 and PC.
