Disney believes that the demand for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake is still strong
In November, it was reported that no one was developing Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake was no longer being developed. Later, Jason Schreier said that Sabre Interactive was still working on the game, but even this does not guarantee that the remake will be released. However, Disney recently reported that there is still demand for this remake, as if hinting at something.
Here's What We Know
In an interview with Axios, Sean Shoptaw, the head of Disney's gaming division, said the following about the release of the KOTOR remake:
"Not a lot I can say on that point for some hopefully obvious reasons, but KOTOR is obviously an incredibly popular game, one that we are incredibly proud of and think that there's still a lot of demand for. I'll leave it there."
As a reminder, Aspyr Media was originally involved in the game, but Embracer Group transferred the project to Saber Interactive. Why was the remake taken away from Aspyr? Schreyer said that the demo shown by the studio was not bad. The bigger problem was the disagreement between all parties about the scope and how much progress the studio could make within the given timeframe.
Embracer Group refuses to comment on the situation around the remake. So even despite the rumours that the game is still being made and Disney's statements, there is little optimism.
