Criticism has worked: Sony won't remove Discovery Channel media projects from the PlayStation catalogue
In early December, Sony announced that it would soon remove all Discovery series and shows, as well as games created under their licences, purchased by PlayStation users.
This situation caused a wave of outrage.
Here's What We Know
Discovery projects were supposed to disappear from the PlayStation catalogue on December 31.
We are talking about 1300 shows and series, including such mega-popular ones as MythBusters, Deadliest Catch The Game, Naked and Afraid, as well as a number of games: Diesel Brothers: The Game, Survival Run with Bear Grylls, Deadliest Catch The Game, Giant Machines 2017 and others.
Sony was quick to reassure its users.
The company has signed a new deal with Warner Bros. which has owned the Discovery brand as of late. All the media projects Discovery bought will remain in the library of PlayStation users.
Notably, Sony's decision was influenced by public reaction. Had users not expressed outrage and sharp criticism, Discovery products would have been irrevocably removed from the PlayStation catalogue.
