The developers of Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail developers want to avoid the situation with the delay that happened with the Endwalker expansion pack
Meanwhile, the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival continues in Tokyo, and despite the fact that numerous details of the upcoming Dawntrail expansion pack have been revealed, the exact release date remains unknown. Producer and director Naoki Yoshida explained that the team has an internal date, but they want to carefully prepare the schedule before announcing it to make sure it's accurate.
Here's What We Know
"Given that this is…Fan Fest, you’re probably expecting us to announce the release date of Dawntrail. Unfortunately, though we do have an internal date that we are targeting, we are adjusting the schedule to ensure it’s fine-tuned as much as it possibly can be before announcing, so we will not be sharing that today."
This approach was chosen to avoid potential delays that occurred with Endwalker. The last key expansion was launched on 23rd November 2021, but due to some technical issues, it was released on 7th December. The developers don't want that to happen again, even if it's a few weeks, so they're working hard to make sure their schedule is exactly as planned before announcing the official release date.
It has also been confirmed that Dawntrail will be released sometime this summer, rather than following Square Enix's "chariot". The exact release date remains uncertain, but it is likely to fall between 1 May and 23 September.
In Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail, players will travel to the continent of Tural, known as the New World, and take on new quests such as Viper and Pictomancer.
