GSD analytical data showed the sales of games and consoles in February 2024 in Europe. In total, 16.74 million copies of video games were sold in February.

Here's What We Know

The biggest hit of the month was the co-operative shooter Helldivers 2. The game was released simultaneously on PC and PS5, and more than 56% of its sales came from PC. The game's sales started to decline only 4 weeks after its release, although most games experience this after 1 week. In addition, a drop of 60 to 80% is the norm, but here it was only 28%.

If we compare the first 4 weeks of Helldivers 2's life with Marvel's Spider-Man 2, another successful Sony game released in October 2023, Helldivers 2 is only 5% behind in sales.

EA Sports FC 24 continues to be among the leaders and ranks 2nd, while Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth. GTA V is in 4th place, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III rounds out the top five.

Skull and Bones, which has been much discussed for some time, took the 9th place. In the first three weeks, the pirate game sold 30% less than Sea of Thieves in the same period in March 2018.

Do you remember another game, Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, which was released in early February but took the 12th place. In its first five weeks, it sold 33% worse than Gotham Knights in 2022 and 61% lower than Guardians of the Galaxy in 2021.

What is the situation with consoles?

GSD does not track console sales in the two largest markets, Germany and the UK. Without these two countries, we know that 474,469 consoles were sold in Europe in February.

All three major platforms showed a drop in sales in February. PlayStation 5 sales fell by 2%. Switch sales fell by 17%, and Xbox Series sales fell by 47%.
