The career of one of the gaming industry's most famous and influential personalities has come to an end.

Yesterday was the last working day of the CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) and head of the PlayStation brand Jim Ryan.

Here's What We Know

About the resignation of the top manager of Sony was announced back in September 2023. The reason given was Ryan's fatigue from constant travelling, busy schedule and separation from his family.

Jim Ryan gave Sony thirty years and made a huge contribution to the development and popularisation of the PlayStation brand and its ecosystem. And he can be proud of the company's success!

Ryan was directly involved in the release of every iteration of the Japanese console, negotiating the purchase of the studio and releasing exclusive games. He had to build Sony's European publishing branch from scratch, personally negotiate the opening of offices in different countries and negotiate with retail chains.

In many respects, it is thanks to Jim Ryan PlayStation takes a leading position in the gaming market, and although his career in Sony is over, the results of his labours will continue to delight gamers around the world and, what to hide, bring a stable income to the Japanese corporation.

Jim Ryan will be succeeded by Sony Group President and COO Hiroki Totoki.
