Ukrainian defence forces destroyed 13 strategic missiles Kh-101 and Kh-555, 17 Kalibr cruise missiles and 27 Shahed-131/136 attack drones
From the evening of 5 August to the morning of 6 August, Russian forces struck with cruise and hypersonic missiles, as well as Shahed-131/136 kamikaze drones. Ukraine's defence forces coped with the drones, but the missiles all failed to be shot down.
Here's What We Know
As part of the first wave, Ukraine's air defence forces shot down 12 of 14 Kalibr sea-based cruise missiles. Russia also launched three Kh-47M2 hypersonic missiles, but the Ukrainian Air Force did not comment on information about their effectiveness.
On the night of 6 August, five of the six Kalibr missiles and all 27 Shahed-131/136 drones were destroyed. In addition, Russian Tu-95MS bombers launched 20 strategic cruise missiles Kh-101 and Kh-555, of which the Ukrainian Defence Forces managed to shoot down 13 units.
Thus, in a few hours, Russia fired 70 missiles and drones at Ukraine. The air defence shot down 57 air threats. Excluding the hypersonic missiles Kh-47M2 hypersonic missiles, the effectiveness of Ukrainian air defence was about 85%.
