Germany for the first time officially handed over missile interceptors for the Patriot air defence system to Ukraine
Germany has updated its list of military aid for Ukraine. Berlin for the first time officially announced the transfer of missile interceptors for Patriot air defence systems.
Here's What We Know
Ukraine received two Patriot air defence systems with an unknown number of launchers. The first one was handed over by the USA, and the second one was handed over by Germany together with the Netherlands. The complex immediately proved itself by shooting down about a dozen Kh-47M2 pseudo-hypersonic missiles.
The official website of the German government does not specify the number of missile interceptors and their type. But it is known that Germany uses Patriot Advanced Capability 3 (PAC-3) Cost Reduction Initiative (CRI) anti-missile missiles.
The PAC-3 RCI is not the newest version of the Patriot interceptor. It has an increased range compared to the conventional PAC-3 and features a reduced cost of production, as reflected in the name. It should be noted that the wreckage of the PAC-3 RCI has already been spotted in Kyiv after one of the missile attacks. The M903 launcher can accommodate up to 16 interceptors.
