AIM-9M Sidewinder missiles, GMLRS precision-guided projectiles for HIMARS, artillery ammunition and Javelin anti-tank missiles - US announces new $250m aid package for Ukraine
The USA has announced another package of military aid for Ukraine. The announcement was published on the website of the US Department of State.
Here's What We Know
The new aid package is focused on replenishing the ammunition of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It includes Javelin anti-tank missiles, artillery shells of 155 mm and 105 mm calibre, more than 3 million rounds of ammunition, as well as Javelin anti-tank missiles.
Separately, it is worth noting the availability of AIM-9M missiles. Despite the fact that formally Sidewinder is an air-to-air missile, the Ukrainian Armed Forces use it in air defence systems.
In addition, the US will provide Ukraine with high-precision GMLRS projectiles with a maximum launch range of about 80 kilometres for the M270 MLRS and M142 HIMARS missile systems. Demining equipment is also on the list. The value of the military aid package was $250 million.
