The Slovak Army wants to scrap the Soviet anti-aircraft missile systems and is already choosing a replacement for them. The decisions are awaiting government approval.

Here's What We Know

The Slovak defence forces are armed with the Soviet Igla-1 and Kub surface-to-air missile systems. The European country has already picked up their replacements, although the names of the weapons are not officially disclosed.

According to unconfirmed information, Bratislava intends to buy Polish Piorun (pictured below) and Israeli Rafael Spyder (pictured above) systems. The potential deal is valued at nearly €194m ($208m).

If the government refuses to give the green light, the military will look at air defence systems from other countries. In particular, Slovakia is interested in French and German weapons.
