Germany will decide by the end of September on the delivery of Taurus cruise missiles with a launch range of more than 500 kilometres to Ukraine
Talks about possible deliveries of German Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine have been going on for several months. There is a probability that this issue will be finalised by the end of this month.
Here's What We Know
German Defence Minister Boris Pistorious has again commented on the potential transfer of cruise missiles with a launch range of more than 500 km to Ukraine. According to him, the government will make a decision within 1-2 weeks.
Boris Pistorious noted that the Taurus cruise missiles are capable of hitting enemy targets at greater distances than any weapon in service with the Ukrainian Defence Forces. With these words, the minister actually confirmed that Ukraine had received export versions of SCALP EG and Storm Shadow missiles with a reduced range.
Earlier, German MPs wrote a letter to Defence Minister and Chancellor Olaf Scholz demanding that Ukraine start deliveries of long-range Taurus missiles. According to the officials, representatives of the Ukrainian government have given guarantees that the German missiles will not be used on the territory of the Russian Federation.
