A year ago, it became known that the Serhiy Prytula Charitable Foundation purchased an ICEYE satellite for the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine. On September 20, 2022, it began its operation. It turned out that the spacecraft took part in the recent operation, as a result of which Russia lost a submarine and a ship.

Here's What We Know

On September 13, cruise missiles attacked the bay in Sevastopol. The strike succeeded in destroying the large landing ship Minsk and the submarine Rostov-on-Don, which can carry Kalibr missiles.

The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry officially confirmed that the space satellite played a very important role in this operation. However, the agency did not disclose any more information.

In addition, an image published by the Main Intelligence Directorate indicates that the spacecraft was monitoring the Dyagilevo airfield in the Ryazan region. There were two Tu-95MS strategic bombers, two Tu-22M3 missile carriers and three Il-76/78 transport aircraft. In the Belgorod region, S-300/400 systems were being monitored.

Ukraine has already noted several times the effectiveness of the satellite's use. In particular, in two days it was used to destroy Russian armoured vehicles worth more than $20 million. In March 2023, intelligence reported that the spacecraft found 45 aircraft, 27 helicopters, 36 S-300 and Pantsir-S1 systems.
