The Republic of Korea is investing $218 million to develop the KTSSM-II tactical ballistic missile to defeat North Korean bunkers and missile systems
The Republic of Korea is investing more than $200 million to modernise the Korean Tactical Surface-to-Surface Missile (KTSSM). The improved version of the ballistic missile will be called KTSSM-II.

The Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) announced an investment of $218 million over four years, through December 2027.
The KTSSM-II modernised tactical missile programme is led by the Agency for Defence Development (ADD). Korean authorities and the defence industry will participate in the project. Hanwha is expected to be the prime contractor.
The KTSSM-II will be an improved version of the KTSSM and will feature an extended launch range. Its potential targets will include North Korean bunkers, 170mm howitzers and M1985 and M1991 multiple rocket launchers.
Finally, the conventional Korean Tactical Surface-to-Surface Missile is a surface-to-surface missile. It is capable of engaging targets within a radius of up to 180 kilometres.
