Ukraine will not use ATACMS tactical ballistic missiles to strike russian territory
ATACMS will not be used for strikes on the territory of the Russian Federation. This was stated by the secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine, Oleksii Danilov.
Here's What We Know
The official commented on the situation around possible deliveries to Ukraine of US tactical ballistic missiles with a maximum launch range of 300 km. Danilov said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will not use ATACMS to destroy military facilities on the territory of Russia.
This is a typical practice in relations between Ukraine and its Western partners when it comes to arms supplies. According to Oleksii Danilov, Ukraine has clear agreements on this matter with its partners.
At the same time, Crimea is considered to be Ukrainian territory. In this regard, Ukraine uses Storm Shadow and SCALP EG cruise missiles to strike Russian facilities on the temporarily occupied peninsula.
The topic of the ATACMS transfer was actively discussed last week against the background of the Ukrainian president's visit to the USA. According to the latest information available to us, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will receive ballistic missiles with cluster warheads, but with a reduced launch range of 165 kilometres.
