Estonia will buy ATACMS tactical ballistic missiles from the United States. Deliveries are expected in two years.

Here's What We Know

In December 2022, Estonia agreed to purchase M142 HIMARS high-mobility artillery rocket systems. The order also includes tactical ballistic missiles in the M57 modification. This was announced the day before by Magnus Saar, director of the state-owned Defence Investment Centre.

The ATACMS tactical ballistic missile has a maximum launch range of 300 kilometres. If everything goes according to plan, Estonia will receive the new armament within 2025.

Meanwhile, Lockheed Martin is working on a replacement for the ATACMS. The US company is receiving funding to produce the Precision Strike Missile. The new long-range missile will be able to hit targets within a 500 kilometre radius, and eventually the maximum range will exceed 1,000 kilometres.
