US Army ready to hand over ATACMS ballistic missiles to Ukraine as soon as Joe Biden makes a decision
It will not take long to deliver ATACMS ballistic missiles to Ukraine. However, the decision has not been made yet.
Here's What We Know
The US Army has been preparing for a long time for the delivery of ballistic missiles to Ukraine. This was stated by the Assistant US Secretary of Defence for procurement, logistics and technology Dough Bush.
According to the official, the deliveries will not take much time, as the US Department of Defence has prepared for such a development of events. However, the process will be set in motion only after US President Joe Biden gives the green light.
There are several variants of ATACMS, which primarily differ in the type of warhead and launch range. It has not been officially confirmed yet, but there is information that Ukraine will receive missiles with a cluster warhead, 950 submunitions and a range of up to 165 kilometres.
Doug Bush confirmed that ATACMS can be launched from M142 HIMARS missile systems, which are already in service with the Ukrainian Defence Forces. This means that the information about restrictions is not true. Last year, there were rumours that Ukraine allegedly received HIMARS that cannot launch ATACMS.
