The Russians have launched the SS-27 Mod 2 intercontinental ballistic missile with a range of 12,000 kilometres, which can carry a nuclear warhead with a yield of up to 500 kilotons

A training session of the strategic deterrence forces was held in Russia. During the event, an intercontinental ballistic missile was launched.

The Russians launched the Yars missile (according to NATO codification - SS-27 Mod 2). It has a launch mass of 46 tonnes, three stages, a maximum length of 22.5 metres and a separable warhead with individual guidance units. It has a maximum charge yield of 500 kilotons.

The SS-27 Mod 2 intercontinental ballistic missile was first launched in the spring of 2007, and the Russian army adopted it two years later. The missile is capable of delivering a nuclear warhead to a distance of 12,000 kilometres.

The Russians launched the SS-27 Mod 2 from the Kura test site in Kamchatka. The new Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile did not take part in the training of the strategic deterrent forces.
