European Patriot - Ukrainian Air Force officially confirmed the use of SAMP/T missile defence systems

The Ukrainian skies are covered by Franco-Italian SAMP/T missile defence systems. This has now been confirmed officially.

Here's What We Know

SAMP/T can be considered a European analogue of the American MIM-104 Patriot surface-to-air missile system. These are the only systems in service with the Ukrainian Air Force that can destroy Russian ballistic missiles.

The arrival of SAMP/T on combat duty is confirmed by LIGA.net with reference to the speaker of the Ukrainian Air Force. This happened after a video appeared on social networks showing the used transport and launch containers of the SAMP/T system.

The Franco-Italian system uses Aster missile interceptors. The system can deal with ballistic and cruise missiles within a radius of up to 100 kilometres. The maximum interception altitude is 40 kilometres.
