Finland has formalised the purchase of David's Sling missile defence system worth up to $340 million

Finland is buying David's Sling missile defence system. The deal was formalised a few days ago.

The signing of the agreement is reported by the Israeli Ministry of Defence. The deal worth up to $340 million (main contract + option) involves the delivery of missile interceptors, launchers and radar systems. Delivery is expected by 2030.

David's Sling missile defence system was adopted in 2015. It can shoot down aerial threats, including ballistic targets, at a maximum range of 200 kilometres or 300 kilometres, according to various reports.

The Israeli army first used David's Sling in 2018 to intercept two Tochka-U missiles launched from Syria. Notably, the first interceptor missed and the second was eliminated after it became clear that neither missile would reach Israeli territory.
