Due to heavy losses of S-400 Triumf in Ukraine, Russia will have to redistribute strategic air and missile defence systems
The Ukrainian Armed Forces are slowly but surely destroying the Russian S-400 Triumf air and missile defence systems worth more than $1 billion. As a result, Russia will have to redistribute its existing anti-aircraft missile systems.
Here's What We Know
Such a statement was made by the Ministry of Defence of the United Kingdom. The British defence department in an intelligence review notes that due to the loss of S-400 "Triumf" Russia is likely to be forced to redistribute strategic systems that protect the country's periphery.
The S-400 Triumf is a key long-range surface-to-air missile system in the Russian army's defence arsenal. It is capable of shooting down aerodynamic and ballistic air threats at a range of up to 400 kilometres.
Air and missile defence systems are used to protect strategically important facilities on the territory of the Russian Federation. In addition, they are dispersed along the border with neighbouring countries, which has a total length of more than 20,000 km.
The removal of the S-400 Triumf for redeployment to the occupied parts of Ukraine will weaken defences on the periphery. This is a perfect demonstration of how war weakens the Russians' ability to ensure the defence of their territory.
