Another new item at today's Samsung Galaxy Unpacked presentation were the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro premium wireless earphones, which replace last year's Galaxy Buds Pro.

What we know

Unlike its predecessors, the new model of headphones is devoid of glossy inserts - instead we see a more matte finish. The housing is IPX7 moisture and sweat resistant, and there are three colors to choose from: black, white and magenta.

The headphones are equipped with two speakers (for high and low frequencies) and three microphones with high SNR (signal to noise ratio). Support for 24-bit Hi-Fi Audio to improve listening quality on compatible Samsung devices, universal audio standards SBC and AAC, the proprietary Samsung Smooth codec and automatic switching between paired gadgets are expected. Bluetooth 5.3 is used for connection.

Of course, the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro offer active noise cancellation. They've also added voice recognition, which automatically switches the headphones to surround sound mode and lowers the media volume when you talk.

Each headphone has a 61 mAh battery that can last you 5 hours of continuous use with noise cancelling enabled or 8 hours without it. The charging case includes an additional 500 mAh, which increases the total run time to 29 hours without noise cancellation and 18 hours with ANC enabled. The charging case supports wireless charging.

Price

Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro cost $230. The company is taking pre-orders for the new product starting today, and sales will start on August 26.
