Company LEO Flight presented a prototype of a flying car LEO Coupe. The first sample of the vehicle is already being prepared for flight tests, which will take place at the end of summer.

What we know

The manufacturer is convinced that its development is the way to the most efficient use of resources in the field of creating air cabs with vertical take-off and landing. LEO Coupe was announced last year. The exterior of the car resembles a sports car.

The key drawback of the LEO Coupe is the boxy wings, which have little lifting power. The car will consume a lot of energy for acceleration, because the lifting power starts to hold it only at 185 km/h or higher.

The engines, which provide horizontal flight, consume 9 kW at a traction of 27.2 kg or 54 kW at peak power. The LEO Coupe will have a maximum speed of 400 km/h and a range of 480 km.

The final sample of the flying car will get 200 vertical jet engines against 75 of the prototype. The diameter of each is 11 cm. The LEO Coupe will be able to carry three passengers with a total weight of 231 kg.

Flight tests of the car are scheduled for August 2022. During the tests, the company LEO Flight will try to prove the advantage of using a large number of motors, which is reflected in the low current load on each motor and on the electronics.
