Elon Musk's satellite Internet appeared in Antarctica - now there is Starlink communication on all continents
SpaceX was able to provide Satellite Internet service on all six continents. Or seven, if you count Europe and Asia as two separate continents. In any case, the last continent was Antarctica.
Here's What We Know
SpaceX sent the Starlink terminal to the McMurdo Antarctic Station, considered the informal capital of Antarctica. They tested the work of the satellite Internet, but no information about the results of the test is given yet.
The company of Elon Musk has already put more than 3,200 satellites Starlink into earth orbit, and does not plan to stop there. In the near future their number could almost triple, since SpaceX has permission to send 12,000 spacecraft. Moreover, the company is waiting for approval to place another 30,000 satellites in Earth orbit.
In 2023 the second generation of Starlink spacecraft will appear above the Earth. They will be more powerful and oversized. According to Elon Musk, the new satellites will be able to transmit a signal directly to users' smartphones.
