Ingenuity made its 33rd mission to Mars lasting 55 seconds
The Martian unmanned Ingenuity helicopter continues to help the Perseverance rover explore the surface of the Red Planet in the vicinity of the Ezero Crater.
Here's What We Know
On September 24, Ingenuity made its third fall flight in the thin atmosphere of Mars. It will last for 55 seconds. Prior to that, the drone took off on Sept. 6 and Sept. 18.
Ingenuity rose to a height of about 10 meters above the surface of the Red Planet and flew almost 111 meters. Experts from California's Jet Propulsion Laboratory were responsible for overseeing the helicopter's flight to the new location.
Ingenuity has been on Mars since 2021. During this time it has already made 33 flights. By 2030, the European Space Agency (ESA) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) although to send several vehicles similar to Ingenuity to Mars to take samples collected by the rover Perseverance, and bring them to Earth for study.
