SpaceX fire tested 11 engines of the world's most powerful rocket Super Heavy, which will send the Starship to Mars
The U.S. aerospace company SpaceX continues to prepare for the launch of the Starship spacecraft.
Here's What We Know
SpaceX conducted a static test of 14 Raptor engines at once mid-month, a big step forward for the first-ever Starship orbital flight. The new test took place Nov. 29 in Texas. It lasted only 13 seconds. Only one-third of Booster 7's first stage engines participated in the static firing test - 11 of 33.
Super Heavy would be the most powerful rocket in the world if it could successfully orbit. Right now that title belongs to the Space Launch System (SLS) lunar rocket. It put the Orion rocket into space two weeks ago, passed the halfway point of the Artemis I mission, and will begin its march toward Earth tomorrow, December 1.
Starship will be used in the future to travel to Mars, but for now, it should at least get into orbit. Elon Musk believes that SpaceX will be able to launch the Super Heavy with Starship before the end of the year.
