SpaceX plans to land the Starship on the Moon in late 2023
SpaceX continues to prepare the Starship for its first test flight, which does not appear to take place this year. Nevertheless, everyone is confident that preparations for the lunar landing are proceeding according to plan.
Here's What We Know
Bill Nelson, the head of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) said that he was in constant communication with SpaceX. Jim Free, spokesman for the space agency, said that the Starship was fully compliant with all benchmarks. Preparations are on schedule and sometimes even ahead of them.
Elon Musk's company intends to make the first landing of Starship on the moon at the end of next year. The spacecraft will go there without a crew. But at the end of 2024, SpaceX will send astronauts to the moon for the first time since 1972. Starship is currently the only vehicle chosen by NASA to land people on the moon in the Artemis program. Orion, on the other hand, will take astronauts to the Gateway orbital station.
