While the Starship, which will orbit large Starlink V2 satellites, is waiting for launch approval, SpaceX has unveiled compact spacecraft. They are called Starlink V2 Mini.
Here's What We Know
Elon Musk's company has released photos of the new generation satellites. In a few hours, 21 spacecraft will be launched into low Earth orbit as part of the Starlink 6-1 mission.
They will operate under SpaceX's Starlink Gen 2 FCC license. The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has approved the launch of 30,000 satellites into orbit. However, the current licence only allows the deployment of 7,500 units.
Starlink V2 Mini has a maximum width of 30 metres. Each satellite is equipped with two solar panels measuring 52.5 square metres.
