The UK is set to pass a law requiring construction companies to include modern charging stations or terminals for charging electric vehicle batteries in all their new projects. Parking lots near offices will also be equipped with chargers, with the bill stipulating that there must be at least one charger for every five parking spaces.

The online edition of Business Green reminds us that by 2030 the UK intends to ban the sale of new fossil fuel-powered cars. The new law aims to maintain adequate infrastructure development, because in residential areas frequented by many tourists there are practically no private garages, and cars are parked on the street next to sidewalks. Now everyone will be able to charge their electric cars even when they are parked and people are working in offices.

If the new law is passed this year, the new requirements for residential and office buildings will go into effect in early 2022. In the private sector, one charger is provided per building, but only for newly constructed homes. This bill has been under discussion since 2019, with a realistic chance of being passed this year. Thus, UK will become the first country in the world to develop charging infrastructure for electric vehicles at a legislative level.
