Signal officially refuses to exchange phone numbers
Signal, known for its strong focus on privacy and security for its users, has announced a new feature that will increase privacy for millions of users of the global messaging app.
After a successful preliminary beta test, Signal is officially eliminating the use of phone numbers in communication between users. Now you can use your username to connect with other people and still be confident in your privacy and anonymity.
This new feature allows users to create unique usernames and use them to identify themselves instead of using phone numbers. In addition, Signal has added a new privacy setting that allows users to control who can find them by their phone number in the app.
According to a Signal spokesperson, these changes underscore the company's ongoing commitment to ensuring the security and privacy of its users. The new feature is already available for beta users of the app, and will be available to the general public in the coming weeks.
