Sony Xperia 5 V - a compact flagship with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, 52MP camera and a capacious battery for €999
Sony has announced the Xperia 5 V smartphone at IFA 2023 in Berlin. It is a compact and slightly simplified version of the Xperia 1 V model, which was presented a few months ago.
Here's What We Know
To begin with, let's note the general parameters. Sony Xperia 5 V, like the Xperia 1 V, is equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, a 12 MP selfie camera, a 5000 mA*h battery with 30W charging and stereo speakers. The smartphone also got a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, Android 13 and IP68 water protection.
The main differences concern the screen and camera. The novelty has retained the ultra-wide and main modules with a resolution of 12 MP and 52 MP (effective - 48 MP) respectively. The latter has an optical stabilisation system. Also, Zeiss T* optics did not go anywhere. At the same time Xperia 5 V remained without a telephoto lens. The smartphone also received a "regular" Full HD+ OLED display with a diagonal of 6.1".
The smartphone has overall dimensions of 154 x 68 x 8.6 mm and weighs 183 g. There are Gorilla Glass Victus 2 panels on the front and back. All the major interfaces are present too, including a headphone jack.
Price & When We Can Expect It
Sony Xperia 5 V sales will start at the end of September 2023. The smartphone has been priced at €999/£849. The model is available exclusively with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
