SpaceX has successfully fire tested all 33 Raptor engines of the Super Heavy booster for the Starship rocket system
SpaceX continues to prepare for the second attempt of orbital launch of the Starship rocket system. Recently, the American company has successfully tested all the engines of the Super Heavy booster.
Here's What We Know
The Starship rocket system consists of two stages. The first stage is the Super Heavy booster. It is equipped with 33 Raptor engines. The second stage is the Starship itself, equipped with six Raptor engines.
Both use Raptor 2 propulsion systems. The successful test of the Super Heavy with 33 engines means SpaceX is ready for a second attempt to send Starship on its first orbital flight. All that remains is to get permission from U.S. authorities.
The first attempt to send Starship into space ended in failure. The rocket system exploded at an altitude of about 40 kilometres. And the self-destruct command was executed with a minute delay. Earlier, Elon Musk promised to make a second attempt in two months after the first. But it's been four months since then. We are waiting for the Federal Aviation Administration's reaction.
