Spotify announces an updated desktop version of the app

Spotify has unveiled a new version of its branded app for computers.

Here's What We Know

The biggest change is the Your Library sidebar on the left side of the screen. Instead of a simple text list of playlists, the interface now includes colourful icons. The sidebar also displays recently listened to artists, albums, and playlists. The panel can be expanded or collapsed.

The developers have also added a Now Playing panel to the desktop version of Spotify. It has been installed on the right side, instead of the friends list (it moved to a separate menu next to the profile icon). It displays information about the current track, tour dates, a link to the shop with the artist's merch and more.

When We Can Expect It

The new version of Spotify Desktop has already begun to appear for users of the service.
