Spotify launches a new level of access to audiobooks in the US

Spotify is now offering a new tier of audiobook access in the US for $9.99 per month. This plan allows listeners to access Spotify's catalogue of 200,000 audiobooks.

Here's What We Know

Earlier in November 2023, Spotify introduced premium audiobooks for the first time, which allowed users to purchase an additional 10 hours for $12.99. According to Spotify representatives, users will be able to listen to audiobooks from the catalogue for up to 15 hours per month. This plan is currently only available in the US.

Consumers who choose the new level of access to audiobooks on Spotify will be able to listen to audiobooks, music and podcasts for free. Usually, the free version of Spotify contains adverts between tracks, but for users of the new audiobook tier, ads will also be included when listening to music and podcasts.

With this move, Spotify continues to compete with Audible, a service owned by Amazon. Spotify offers a wider selection of audiobooks at a reduced price compared to Audible's plans.
