We recently wrote that Ukraine wants to produce Swedish CV90 infantry fighting vehicles. It seems that the relevant decision has already been made.

Here's What We Know

This was announced by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during his evening address on Monday 21 August. Unfortunately, there are no details of negotiations and terms of the plant construction yet. It is only known that at the first stages Ukraine is going to repair combat vehicles, and then to fully localise production. By the way, back in June it was reported that Ukraine wants to order 1000 CV90 infantry fighting vehicles.

Flashback

CV90 is a Swedish infantry fighting vehicle, which in 1984 was developed by Hägglunds company (owned by British BAE Systems) at the request of the Swedish Army. Production of the vehicle began in 1993. Since then, about 1,170 BMPs in different modifications have been produced. By the way, the AFU has 50 such infantry fighting vehicles in service. They were transferred to Ukraine by Sweden.
