In July, it was reported that Bulgaria might transfer Soviet armoured personnel carriers to Ukraine. This has now been confirmed by the country's defence minister at a joint briefing with his Ukrainian counterpart in Odessa on 22 August.

Here's What We Know

According to the Minister, Bulgaria is ready to transfer about 100 BTR-60, but for the transfer of equipment will have to ratify the contract in the Parliament of the country. If everything works out, the deliveries may start at the end of September or early October. The equipment is now in the warehouses of the Interior Ministry.

By the way, instead of BTR-60, Bulgaria may receive American M1117 armoured personnel carriers.

Flashback

BTR-60 is a Soviet armoured personnel carrier with 8×8 wheel arrangement. It was developed in 1956-1959.
