Ukraine's defence forces in Crimea have destroyed a rare Russian 48Ya6-K1 Podlyot, which is used with the S-300 and S-400 air defence systems
Ukraine's defence forces have destroyed a rare 48Ya6-K1 Podlyot radar station located on the territory of the Crimean peninsula.
Here's What We Know
The radar was adopted for service in 2015 and is an important part of the air defence system of the Russian Federation. It is designed to detect air targets at low and very low altitudes.
In addition, the radar station can be used to issue target designation, working together with surface-to-air missile systems. In particular, with S-300 and S-400. The maximum range is 300 kilometres, and the altitude range is 0-10 kilometres.
It is worth noting that a launcher of the S-400 surface-to-air missile system, along with missiles, was destroyed in Crimea on 23 August. This information was officially confirmed by Ukrainian intelligence. At the same time, it did not specify which weapon was used.
