Leopard 1 and T-72: Denmark to transfer a new batch of tanks to Ukraine
Denmark has announced that it is going to supply Ukraine with a new batch of tanks.
Here's What We Know
The information was shared by Danish Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen during the 15th meeting of the Ramstein Cantata Group in Germany.
We are talking about 30 German Leopard 1 tanks and 15 modernised Soviet T-72 tanks. The latter Ukraine will be able to instantly use on the battlefield. As for the Leopard 1s, Ukrainian crews will have to undergo a training programme in order to use them. Unfortunately, there is no information yet on the timing of the equipment deliveries.
By the way, the tanks are most likely part of a new military aid package that Denmark announced last week. It includes $830 million worth of arms and is broken down into three parts: $617 million this year, $209 million in 2024 and $7 million in 2025.
