The Ukrainian Defence Forces have already received 15 Estonian THeMIS robots for mine clearance, demining and casualty evacuation
Ukraine has been an operator of THeMIS robots since last autumn. The defence forces have 15 such platforms in service. This is reported by RBC Ukraine.
Here's What We Know
THeMIS is a robotic platform created by the Estonian company Milrem Robotics. Ukraine uses robots for evacuation of the wounded, laying mines, demining territories and reconnaissance.
At the same time, there are also combat modifications of THeMIS. For example, in September, the Estonian robotic platform became the first European weapon system in history to be equipped with kamikaze drones created in the UAE.
The robot is built on a tracked chassis and can travel at 20 kilometres per hour. Its weight is 1,630kg. In addition to the UAE-made drones, THeMIS can be armed with launchers for the use of Israeli Hero 120 UAVs.
At the end of last summer, Spain became the 13th country to order THeMIS. Eight NATO member states are now operators of the Estonian robots.
