Boeing publicly demonstrated the flight of the Wisk Aero Cora electric air taxi for the first time
Wisk Aero, a subsidiary of Boeing, demonstrated the Cora air taxi at EAA AirVenture. It was the first public demonstration of an aircraft with vertical takeoff and landing.
Here's What We Know
Wisk Aero was originally a joint venture between Kittyhawk and Boeing. After the closure of Kittyhawk in autumn 2022, Boeing became the sole owner of the company.
Now specialists are working on the prototype of the sixth generation air taxi and are already testing the prototype of the fifth generation. It was the one that was demonstrated to the visitors of the EAA AirVenture exhibition. The sixth prototype will receive certification from the Federal Aviation Administration.
During the demonstration, the Wisk Aero Cora took off, landed and flew in circles. The fifth-generation prototype is equipped with propellers attached to beams. The next prototype will get front rotary electric motors.
