The Japanese government is ready to fund the development of 2nm lithographic technologies.

Here's What We Know

The dedicated budget for this fiscal year (ending March 31, 2023) includes several billion dollars to finance the industry. In particular, Japan plans to create jointly with the United States a research center, which will develop the production of semiconductor products made on the standards of 2-nm technology.

Japanese authorities intend to invest $3.06 billion in factories which will be able to produce advanced microcircuits in the Land of the Rising Sun. It goes without saying that such enterprises should be provided with materials for normal uninterrupted work. Japan will invest another $2.5 billion in supplies.

A new research center will appear before the end of the year. In the near future it will be known which companies will take part in its work. Now it is known only that IBM will be responsible for technological support.

In total, Japan will allocate more than $20 billion to finance promising industries. In addition to the production of semiconductor products, Tokyo is investing in the development of robotics and the search for new sources of materials for electric motors. The authorities say it will have a positive impact on the development of the Japanese economy and the growth of the welfare of its inhabitants.
